Introduction

Noth the Plaguebringer is the first boss in the Plague Quarter. This is probably the easiest fight you will come across in naxx. The only difference between Normal and Heroic is the amount of add spawns and the amount of people that get cursed.

Heroic Raid (25 man)

Abilities

Noth the Plaguebringer has approximately 8,440,000 hit points.

Phase One

  • Curse of the Plaguebringer - Curses 10 random players. Must be dispelled within 10 seconds or each one will inflict Wrath of the Plaguebringer on the raid.
  • Wrath of the Plaguebringer - For every missed curse everyone within 30 yards will suffer 5550 to 6450 immediate shadow damage and 3150 to 3850 shadow damage every two seconds for ten seconds. This application of 23,000+ damage to the entire raid will generally cause a wipe.
  • Blink - He blinks periodically throughout the fight, causing a complete Aggro wipe. Cooldown is around 25 seconds when he is in the room, and he only travels a short distance.
  • Cripple - He will cast this every time he blinks, on those around where he blinks FROM, doing an AoE debuff that slows movement by 50%, attack speed by 100% and reduces strength by 50%. Dispellable.
  • Summon Plagued Warriors - Every 30 seconds Noth the Plaguebringer will summon three Plagued Warriors. These have ~125,000 hit points and melee for ~3000 on plate. They can cleave.
  • Berserk - Noth the Plaguebringer will Berserker Enrage after three skeleton phases. This will increase his damage by 1000%.

Phase Two

Every 110 seconds of combat Noth will teleport away to a balcony and become invulnerable while waves of skeletons attack the raid. Phase two lasts 70 seconds after which Noth will commence phase one again.

Plagued Champions - These have ~130,000 HP and melee for ~3500 on plate. They have a light aoe ability and they can mortal strike. Mark them and focus them down.

Plagued Guardian - These will only appear in the second and third skeleton phases. They have ~100,000 HP and melee for ~1,000 on plate. They do a big arcane explosion that hits for 6k, these need to be the first targets.

Strategy

Phase One

This is a very simple encounter, the raid should position themselves as shown in the screenshot. DPS will ignore adds during this phase and just burn down the boss. Noth will blink throughout this phase and do a complete agro wipe. When he blinks he also uses an aoe cripple ability that can and should be dispelled off the main tank so they can get agro back asap. During this phase, there are 3 add spawn locations where Plagued Warriors will come out each time Noth shouts “Rise, my soldiers! Rise and fight once more!” (every 30 seconds). Offtanks should pick them up and move them to the boss, facing them away from melee so they do not get cleaved. This positioning allows any aoe abilities to hit them and will make killing them much faster when the time comes. Offtanks will need to pick these up each time they spawn and bring them back to the offtank location for the duration of phase one. When Noth teleports to his platform, phase 2 is about to begin so all dps should take down the plagued warriors at this time.

If your tanks are taking too much damage during this phase, you can assign a few dps to just work on killing the adds. The fight will take a little longer and you will most likely go through a second skeleton phase as a result.

The main cause of wipes on this encounter is the Curse of the Plaguebringer. 10 random raid members will receive the curse, it is very important that all of these are decursed within 10 seconds. A missed curse will cause some wipes, and any more than that will wipe the raid. Make sure all classes with the ability to decurse are doing so.

Phase Two

Phase two begins when Noth ports up to his platform. During this phase, adds will spawn and simply need to be picked up by a tank and burned down by DPS. There are 4 add spawn locations during this phase and 4 adds will come out each wave. Depending on your raids DPS, you might still have some Plagued Warriors to deal with from phase 1 so finish them off asap while the offtanks are picking up the new Plagued Champions. After a couple waves off adds, Noth will port back down and repeat phase one again.

You will continue going through each phase until Noth is dead. Each time you get to phase two, it will get harder because he starts to summon Plagued Guardians which cast a huge arcane explosion for 6k. If you make it to phase two a second time, be sure the Guardians are your first targets to minimize the amount of damage the raid is taking. If your raid makes it to a 3rd phase two, it means your DPS is way too low and Noth will come back down and enrage, 1 shotting everyone.

Normal Raid (10 man)

Noth the Plaguebringer has approximately 2,780,000 hit points.

Phase One

  • Curse of the Plaguebringer - Curses 10 random players. Must be dispelled within 10 seconds or each one will inflict Wrath of the Plaguebringer on the raid.
  • Wrath of the Plaguebringer - For every missed curse everyone within 30 yards will suffer 3700 to 4300 immediate shadow damage and 1313 to 1687 shadow damage every 2 seconds for ten seconds.
  • Summon Plagued Warriors - Every 30 seconds Noth the Plaguebringer will summon three Plagued Warriors. These have ~125,000 hit points and melee for ~3000 on plate. They can cleave.
